Sherman Cole, M.D.

Dr. Cole earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He graduated with departmental honors in psychology from the University of Kansas. Dr. Cole served six years in the U.S. Army and received an Army Commendation Medal.

He is active in an international association that is dedicated to the safe, ethical and effective use of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and other brain stimulation therapies. He helped develop the ECT program at Research Medical Center and Research Psychiatric Center in Kansas City.

Dr. Cole was recently featured on KSHB-TV discussing treatment for patients who do not respond to antidepressant medication. He treats all adult and geriatric patients for ADD/ADHD, alcoholism and/or substance abuse/use, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, conduct disorder, personality disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, postpartum depression, depression, dementia, eating disorder, and schizophrenia. His services include medication management, medication management with psychotherapy, Ketamine, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, and ECT consultation.

When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family at the lake.

Steven D. Segraves, M.D.

Dr Segraves was born and raised in the Kansas City area.  He attended the University of Kansas, where he received a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration.  He attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine, graduating in 1986, and completed a psychiatry residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 1990.  

Dr Segraves is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is subspecialty boarded in Geriatric Psychiatry.  He is currently on staff at Cass Regional Medical Center, and is Psychiatric Director of the Monarch Behavioral Health Unit at Cameron (Mo) Regional Medical Center, and is Medical Director of St Anthony's Senior Care Hospital in Olathe, Kansas. 

Dr Segraves treats adults and seniors, across a wide variety of diagnoses. He utilizes medication, psychotherapy, ketamine therapy, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).  He performs consultations for appropriateness for electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).  Dr Segraves participates in PAKC's developing clinical trial programs.

An avid sports fan, Dr Segraves follows Sporting KC, the Royals, Chiefs, and his Jayhawks.  Leisure activities include working in the yard, reading, walking, and enjoying time with his dogs.

Kevin Mays, M.D.

Dr. Mays joined PAKC in 1996 after he completed a Psychiatry residency at the University of Arkansas - Medical Sciences. He is board certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. After growing up in the Kansas City area, he earned a Bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Missouri – Kansas City before obtaining his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Mays was the founding psychiatric director of the Sage Senior Behavioral Health Unit at Cass Regional Medical Center; which he opened in December 1997. He stepped down from that role in 2014. Dr. Mays treats patients in inpatient, outpatient and nursing home settings and works with a range of patients from the age of four to the senior adult populations. He has had extensive experience in treating all psychiatric disorders. Dr. Mays sees patients at our Leawood, Harrisonville and Warrensburg locations, and is currently taking new patients.

Lolitta E. Aznaurova, M.D.

Lolitta E Aznaurova received her Medical Doctorate at the Azerbaijan State Medical Institute in 1979. She completed a residency program at 
the Clinical Psycho-Neurological Hospital in the country’s capital of Baku, and practiced neurology in Germany and Russia for eight years. Once in the United States, Dr. Aznaurova completed her internship and residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is board certified in Psychiatry. 
Dr. Aznaurova sees patients in an outpatient setting. She treats patient ages 21 and older for pharmaceutical management and psychotherapy, and evaluates/performs ECT. Dr. Aznaurova is accepting new patients and can accommodate most appointment availability needs.

Christopher R. Van Horn, M.D.

Dr. Van Horn earned his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He completed his residency at Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry. He also completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Dr. Van Horn is board certified in both General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He focuses on the treatment of autism, bipolar and conduct disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, gender identity disorder, depression, schizophrenia, and Tourette’s Syndrome.

Every year since 2007 Dr. Van Horn has been included on the list of Kansas City Super Doctors. In his free time, he is a supporter of the arts locally and enjoys being with his wife and three children.

He sees children and adolescents ages 16 and older, as well as adults, at the Leawood and Lee’s Summit locations.

Wade A. Hachinsky, D.O.

Dr. Hachinsky was born in Kansas City, Missouri and in 1991 graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a B.S. degree. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995. Dr. Hachinsky completed his internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and served two years on the USS Inchon as the medical officer. Dr. Hachinsky completed his residency at the National Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia in 2001. He then served at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune as a staff psychiatrist and department head for mental health from 2001 to 2004. He is currently on staff Cass Regional Medical Center and Cameron Regional Medical Center. Dr. Hachinsky is board certified in Psychiatry. He sees patients 20 and older in both inpatient and outpatient settings for pharmaceutical management and psychotherapy, and evaluates for ECT appropriateness. Dr. Tamano earned a degree in Psychology with a double minor in Philosophy and Theology from St. Louis University. He graduated from medical school at Our Lady of Fatima Medical College in the Philippines.  He completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

As a partner of Psychiatry Associates of Kansas City, Dr. Tamano served as Medical Director of Shawnee Mission Medical Center's Behavioral Department.  Currently, he is Co-Medical Director of Advanced Psychiatric Solutions of Kansas City. His practice focuses on psychiatry for adults, adolescents, geriatric patients and those dealing with addiction. He participates in clinical trials for advancement of psychotropic medications, Ketamine, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

Dr. Tamano played high school sports in St. Louis and still follows the Cardinals, Blues and Billikens, but he now supports the Royals, Chiefs and Jayhawks.

Dr. Tamano sees patients at the Leawood location, and is currently taking new patients.  

Irfan A. Handoo, M.D.

Irfan A. Handoo was born in Columbia, Maryland. He grew up in Leawood, Kansas and graduated from Blue Valley North High School. Dr. Handoo earned his undergraduate degree from UMKC and his Medical Doctorate at the UMKC School of Medicine in 2005. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Handoo completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center at Wichita, where he also completed a fellowship in psychopharmacology. He does have experience in residency as a sub-investigator for clinical research trials. Dr. Handoo is Board Certified in Psychiatry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association. 

Dr. Handoo has been published in several journals, including The Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology. He sees patients for a wide variety of disorders, including but not limited to Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Eating Disorders, and Personality Disorders.  

Dr. Handoo has a clinical interest in Treatment-Resistant Depression and does see patients for IV ketamine treatments for depression and TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) for treatment-resistant depression.   

He sees patients ages 15 and older in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations at PAKC's office in Leawood. Dr. Handoo is fluent in English, Spanish, and Urdu. He sees patients for both medication management and psychotherapy and is accepting new patients.

Dr. Brown is a graduate of Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He completed residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he completed his training as Chief Resident. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. 

Dr. Brown specializes in the treatment of adults affected by ADHD, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, schizophrenia and dementia. His services include medication management, Ketamine infusions, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, and Electroconvulsive Therapy.

After growing up in Bellevue, Nebraska, he has remained a fan of the Cornhuskers while supporting the Royals and Chiefs. His interests include traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Dennis P. Owens, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Owens graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He earned a PhD in Molecular Biology from Washington University in St. Louis, where he also completed his psychiatry residency. 

Dr. Owens serves as Co-Director of Advanced Psychiatric Solutions of Kansas City (APSKC), a division of Psychiatry Associates of Kansas City (PAKC), and Medical Director for Research at APSKS and PAKC.

His clinical focus is on the diagnosis and medication treatment of psychiatric disorders.  Dr. Owens’ services also include the use of Ketamine and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for the treatment of depression, as well as the development of a clinical trial division for appropriate patients who desire to be involved in new drug development studies.

Dr. Owens is Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and sees adult (18 and older) and geriatric patients at the Leawood location.

Sasha G. Hamdani, M.D.

A native of Santa Barbara, California, Dr. Hamdani studied at the University of Missouri--Kansas City, and is a graduate of the 6-year accelerated B.A./M.D. program. She completed the first three years of her residency in General Psychiatry at Banner Good Samaritan in Phoenix, then moved back to Kansas City to finish her final year of training at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Her clinical interests include ADHD, Gender Dysphoria, and Emerging Borderline Personality Disorder in Adolescent Populations. Professional affiliations include the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association and the National Alliance on Mental Illness. In 2001, Dr. Hamdani founded WorldHarmonyOnline.org, a non-profit dedicated to creation of a non-violent world with access to technology, healthcare and education. Dr. Hamdani has embraced telemedicine and treats patients 6 years and older. She speaks English, Spanish and conversational Urdu and is accepting new patients.
